Swankey Wedding: Amber & James

We love it when a couple gets to Key West for their destination wedding and truly embraces it. That’s exactly what Amber and James did. From their barefoot in the sand ceremony at Fort Zachary Taylor Beach to their reception at the Ocean Key House with key lime details, Amber, James, and their family and friends really harnessed the Key West spirit. Their wedding spanned a three day weekend with a rehearsal dinner at the Conch Seafood Republic, their wedding day festivities, and a day after brunch at their parents’ rental cottage.

On the day of, Amber and her girls got glam with the Southernmost Glam team.

Meanwhile, James and his boys got prepped the way only boys can!

The two exchanged wedding gifts to one another pre-ceremony without seeing each other by standing on either side of an open guest room door. They also created a memory box with a bottle of wine and love notes to one another to open on a later date and read and enjoy.

The ceremony at Fort Zach was picturesque, to say the least. Mama Flowers created a beautiful arch and we loved the “Lose Your Shoes” sign. Reverend Steve Torrence officiated the ceremony and Mile 0 took care of the music for the ceremony. To get from location to location, Old Town Trolley was at their service, and the bride and groom went by way of pedicab. So Key West!

The reception on Sunset Pier at the Ocean Key House was absolutely beautiful underneath the tent and string lighting from Eventfully Yours. A friend of the bride created personalized stationery for the name cards tucked inside slices of limes. Loved that DIY detail! They also created two signature drinks, margaritas and apple martinis. For party favors, key lime sodas in custom koozies were at everyone’s place settings.

It was a lively bunch and the connection between Amber and James was apparent from the moment we met them. DJ Jimmy Jamz kept everyone on their feet and Studio Julie is responsible for these stunning pictures. For more images from their wedding, click here. Congratulations Amber and James! It was a treat to be apart of your big day!

  1. You have one daughter and she has dreamt of her wedding day ever since she was a little girl. You want everything to be perfect. You imagine how the wedding will be, and then, it happens! Your little girl is engaged! She says, “I want a beach wedding, I want pretty water and pretty sand!” Nothing like I was thinking! You panic and start the Internet search. After many days of searching for the perfect location, we found Key West. We are from Maryland and now we were wondering how we were going to pull this off! A destination beach wedding! So the Internet search started again! Well, it didn’t take long. Our daughter was adamant from the first look at Swankey Events web site. She loved every little detail Swankey Events put into their weddings! When we called Megan, she was so comforting! She had all the right answers to our questions and put us at ease. So, we hired a wedding planner! This was the best decision we ever made! As the mother of the bride, the weight was lifted. Megan was our full service wedding planner and created the perfect venue! Every vender was the perfect match! Our little girls fairy tale wedding turned out better than we imagined! Words can’t express our gratitude for everything you did! You worked so hard and it showed! Our little girl, all grown up and married now, says, “If I could just go back to that day one more time.” It makes you so proud! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for everything you did for us and Amber and James!
    Sincerely,
    Angela
