You’ve got the dress, you’ve hired the photographer, wedding planner, and caterer. You’re on the fence though – should you hire a professional to do your hair and makeup or do it yourself?

Recently, we sat down with Marie-Pierre of Studio Marie-Pierre in Key West to discuss the benefits of using a professional to do your hair and makeup on the big day.

Besides looking her very best, what are some other reasons a bride should have her hair and make up professionally done on the big day?

Choosing the look of your wedding day hair and makeup is as important as choosing your gown. For both hair and makeup, the look is customized to enhance facial features achieving optimal results. We will place hair accessories in such ways that they will remain secure for the rest of the day.

We use professional grade airbrush and non airbrush makeup guaranteed to last all day insuring a flawless look until the end of the night professional makeup has staying power. You are likely to cry, sweat, dance, be hugged more than you have collectively in your entire life. A good professional makeup job will stand up to all of this, and you will still look great at the end of the night.

Many makeup brands, especially foundations and concealers, have ingredients that will reflect light and will make you face appear completely flat in photography. A professional makeup artist knows how to apply makeup in a way that the camera interprets your face correctly. A good makeup artist knows which brands to use in order to avoid the dreaded mismatch face and body. Our foundation is also completely customized to the client’s skin color.

What is your process when meeting a bride for the first time?

We begin with an in-depth consultation.  Look at photos of the wedding dress, accessories and establish the color palette and look.

How much time should a bride allot on her big day for getting her hair and makeup done?

We schedule 1.5 to 2 hours for both hair, makeup and lashes.
