“I like large parties. They’re so intimate.” ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby

Okay, we’ll admit, a Great Gatsby themed wedding isn’t the first thing you think of when it comes to planning a tropical Key West destination wedding in paradise, but a girl can dream, can’t she? We’re not sure about you, but we went gaga for the style and glitz in Baz Luhrmann’s recent take on Gatsby, and it’s no wonder so many couples-to-be have incorporated the theme into their weddings.

If you love Gatsby, too, here’s a few elements to keep in mind when incorporating the theme into your wedding. Choose one or two to go “Gatsby light” or pick them all for a full on Gatsby affair!

1. Art Deco everything- Those angular and curvaceous accents indicative of the Art Deco movement can be incorporated into everything from invitations, to your dress, and place cards.

2. Head pieces- Nothings says roaring ’20s like a flapper-inspired headpiece. These lovely sashes of sparkle and satin look chic and modern in 2013, not to mention romantic!

4. Sheath dresses- That sleek, simple silhouette of the 1920s is a chic and sexy way to pay homage to the days of Gatsby and your hot wedding bod!

5. Glitz, glam, and excess- Bottom line, the 1920s and the Great Gatsby were all about excess. Bring on the razzle dazzle, the champagne, feathers, and any other whim your heart desires!
