Julia and Chad’s Casa Marina Wedding Getaway

     521-1 (1)

This beautiful couple from Louisiana sailed into Key West in style, literally. They arrived to  Key West early Tuesday morning on a cruise ship and were only in port for 7 hours.

581-1

They definitely made the most of their time, though! Steve Torrence wed the full of life, southern couple on the Casa Marina Beach. Once the ceremony was over, the couple, along with their guests, headed over to the Casa Marina patio.

024-1

There, Peter from Milan Events blew us all away by selecting the perfect navy blue and white linens, which complimented the bright array of flowers he had selected for the centerpieces. Brunch was served, mimosa’s were flowing, and George Pollis was playing away on the steel drums.

124-1

Solaris and his wife, Marcella, captured the entire event through their lenses. They even went along for the ride when the Conch Tour Train arrived at the Casa Marina to pick up all the guests and give them a tour around Key West.

841-1 (1)

855-1

After the tour came to an end, back on the ship they went as they sailed onto their next destination. Although they had 2 other destinations left, I can guarantee neither one was as memorable as their wedding day in Key West.null

A Swankey Wedding: Kelly & Darrell

Kelly and Darrell hail from Orlando and made the trek south for their Key West destination wedding. Fun fact, Darrell proposed to Kelly at an Orlando Magics basketball game! They had a traditional ceremony at Key West’s United Methodist Church. It was a truly touching occasion. Kelly’s a twin and the final of the pair to get married.

After the reception, the party shuttled over to the Hyatt Resort aboard the Conch Tour Train for a spectacular cocktail hour and reception. Milan Events created a gorgeous decor theme and Eventfully Yours covered us for extra party rentals. I especially loved the wedding cake topper that Kelly ordered custom from Etsy to resemble the couple. Adorable!

DJ Jimmy Jamz got the party started and these guys danced the night away to old school hip hop. So fun!

It was such a charming family affair. Congratulations to Kelly and Darrell! You guys were awesome. Of course, the amazing photographs are courtesy of Studio Julie. Check out more pictures of this bright and beautiful wedding here.

A Swankey Wedding: Erica & Frank

For some people, planning a Key West wedding isn’t a destination wedding, but a homecoming. This was the case for Erica when she wed Frank at the Casa Marina. She and Megan grew up together on the island and even cheered together at Key West High School. “Go Conchs!”

This summer, Erica became the fourth of her sisters to wed at the elegant Casa Marina, making it a true family tradition. She and her bridesmaids got dolled up with the help of The Visible Difference Salon before the ceremony on the beach beautifully decorated by Milan Event. Florida Keys Party Rentals provided the chairs and extra rental items.

The reception was an elegant affair with an adorable candy table serving up blue candy exclusively. DJ Jimmy Cooper from Soundwave DJs got the crowd on their feet. This was definitely a fun, local bunch who were ready to dance the night away! They even had some choreographed dances to share! Soundwave also produced the wedding video for the couple.

It was a truly fun and festive occasion. Congratulations Erica and Frank! For more pictures from their wedding, please visit the talented Studio Julie and her blog.

A Swankey Wedding: Brooke & Justin’s Video

We traveled up the Keys in December to Marathon for Brooke and Justin’s Tranquility Bay wedding. The Key West wedding crew made the trip including CineaVerde responsible for this gorgeous video, Studio Julie for photography, Milan Event for floral and decor, and Southernmost Glam for hair and makeup. The setting was absolutely stunning with a ceremony held at the San Pablo Catholic Church and reception to follow back at the resort. Enjoy this video and try not to get choked up! Keep your eyes peeled for Brooke’s “something blue.” Hello glittery Louboutins!

Swankey Hearts BHLDN For Bridesmaid Dressing

Megan was recently sent to a website to purchase a bridesmaid dress for a friend’s upcoming wedding. When she got to BHLDN.com she was pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous selections of bridesmaids dresses with a flair for the modern and an emphasis on individuality.

With its fashion forward approach to bridal styling, BHLDN is certainly no David’s Bridal. Think of them as the Anthropologie of bridal, which is actually where they got their start.

While bridesmaid fashion has improved drastically over the years with so many original offerings, it’s great to see companies like BHLDN pop up to make the selection even easier. The site is beautifully curated almost like a Tumblr blog with intriguing stories, videos, and pictures that go beyond just plain-old-shopping.

Right now, their bridesmaid dresses are inspired by the pastel colors of French macarons. With a variety of cuts, colors, and prints in complementary shades, the options are endless for your bridal party. Your girls can mix and match gowns to their heart’s desire and still look pulled together and coordinated at the wedding. Here’s an assortment of dresses we love at BHLDN. We think they’d make for stunning bridesmaids dresses in a Key West destination wedding.

Marchioness Dress $350

In Full Bloom Dress $400

Macaron Shoppe Dress $220

Miraflores Dress $310

Sunroom Dress $220

Not just bridesmaids dresses, BHLDN also has a gorgeous array of wedding gowns, accessories, decor, and beauty items to browse through.

What do you think? Would you mix and match bridesmaid dress styles and colors? Both? Neither? Tell us how you made your bridesmaids happy and beautiful on your wedding day!

A Swankey Wedding: Jackie & Andrew

Simply scroll through Jackie and Andrew’s wedding photos and try to tell me there’s a more beautiful backdrop for a wedding than Key West. Studio Julie captured these sumptuous pictures at the gorgeous gardens surrounding the Key West Lighthouse & Keeper’s Quarter Museum where the ceremony was held.

As if the gardens needed much else to make them absolutely stunning, we utilized Milan Event and Eventfully Yours for that extra special touch of flowers, decor, and rental items. Before the ceremony, Jackie got gorgeous with Studio Marie-Pierre. Check out the stunning photo below. Jackie’s hair and makeup is absolutely flawless and I adore the baby pink bougainvillea crawling along the garden’s walls for a beautiful composition.

The ceremony was officiated by a friend of the bride and groom, adding a very personal touch to the ceremony. After the ceremony, the party headed over to nine one five’s upstairs lounge point 5 for a wonderful reception with passed tapas, cocktails, and wine. DJ Kevin Wright from Soundwave kept the revelers grooving for a super fun party! Key West Cakes made a delicious cake and Jackie’s brother added a personal touch with a cake topper that he made himself.

This was such a gorgeous and fun wedding to be a part of. Congratulations Jackie and Andrew. We wish you a long life of happiness and many happy returns to Key West!

A Swankey Wedding: Katrina & Ames

Katrina and Ames’ wedding was the last official Swankey wedding of 2011. Their ceremony and reception was held on December 11 at the West Martello Tower and Key West Garden Club by the beach. Ames is a former captain at Fury Water Adventures, and the couple lived in Key West together before moving to the mainland. They chose the island as the location for their destination wedding. Or should we say homecoming?

The night before the wedding, they celebrated their rehearsal dinner on a sunset sail and then had a shindig at the Swankey Space.

Katrina got glam with Studio Marie-Pierre before the ceremony. As you can see in the picture below, she has an eye for detail when it comes to looking good!

The ceremony was officiated by Steve Tepper and Milan Events took care of the flowers and decor. We also utilized Eventfully Yours for the party rentals. As the sun sank into the ocean and the day turned to night, the party  in the gardens got started. Croissants de France catered the reception and created the beautiful wedding cake.

Megan Ellis was the beauty behind the lens capturing all of the special moments of this lovely wedding. Congratulations Katrina & Ames! We hope to see you back in Key West soon.

A Swankey Wedding: Jen & Rob

The success of a beautiful wedding is often in the details, and this is something Jen and Rob understood well. Their dazzling wedding at the Westin Resort & Marina was an absolute stunner. From the antique car adorned with pink flowers to Ron’s “R+J” inscribed cufflinks and their coordinating pink and lime green Nike kicks at the reception, these two wed in style!

Jen got gorgeous with Studio Marie-Pierre in her suite at the Westin overlooking the beautiful Key West Harbor. The wedding took place outside on the pier officiated by Steve Torrence. Milan Events created the stunning bright pink bouquets and decor. And Cinea Verde and Studio Julie were on hand to capture the wedding through video and photos respectively.

Jen was born and raised in Key West, and chose to come back home for her “destination wedding.” This might be why her guests knew how to have such a great time. This crew danced late into the night at the Westin’s reception hall with DJ Jimmy at the turntables.

As I said before their wedding was full of beautiful touches from starfish appearing on the centerpieces, place settings, and on the cake, and stationery gift boxes and coozies for their guests. The bride and groom bobblehead below was also absolutely adorable!

What a fun couple! Congratulations Jen and Rob. For more pictures of this gorgeous and fun wedding, visit Studio Julie’s blog here.

Christiana & Trevor’s Swankey Wedding featured in “Destination I Do”

We are so proud to have a Swankey wedding featured in Destination I Do Magazine’s blog, and it’s no surprise that they chose Christiana and Trevor’s March wedding at the Southernmost House for the feature. This sunny couple from Southern California decided to wed in Key West as a convenient locale for their east coast families. They were such a pleasure to work with and their wedding was truly spectacular.

Christiana gave us a wonderful complement that was featured in the article. Here’s an excerpt from the blog written by Courtney Cox below:

Once the destination was chosen, the next step was to find a wedding planner who would be their eyes and ears throughout the process. Christiana admits she never could have pulled off the destination wedding of her dreams without the help of her wedding coordinator [Swankey Events]. “[Megan] had established relationships with Key West vendors and validated the research I’d been doing online. That relative peace of mind was important to me.”

The all-star team of vendors in Key West, indeed, helped make the wedding a success. Studio Marie-Pierre got Christiana and her girls glam for the big day. Milan Events provided the lovely flowers and decor. Great Events catered the affair. Roberto DeBourg & the Flats Band rocked the house. And Studio Julie was behind the lens capturing these gorgeous photos. For more pictures from the wedding, click here.

Christiana and Trevor, congratulations once again. Your wedding was truly an inspiration! Also, thank you to Destination I Do for featuring this very Swankey wedding!

A Swankey Wedding: Amy & Ernest

Well, I have to say this was a very special Swankey wedding. Amy is the sister of our good friend and photographer extraordinaire Julie of Studio Julie. At Swankey, we work with Studio Julie for countless Key West destination weddings, and the results are always phenomenal.

I love the look of anticipation in both of their eyes. So sweet!

It was wonderful to feel like a part of the family while planning Amy and Ernest’s intimate October wedding. Amy opted for Studio Marie-Pierre to get gorgeous. The ceremony took place at the lush Key West Garden Club at West Martello by the beach, which is such a sumptuous, stunning venue. Officiant Steve Torrence led the ceremony, but not without a Spanish translator for Ernest’s side of the family making it a bilingual ceremony .

For the reception, we headed back to Swankey Headquarters for a great party and a delicious cake by Key West Cakes. Milan Events was responsible for the gorgeous flowers. It was an amazing evening, even with a little rain, and we were so happy to play a hand Julie’s sister’s big day.

Congratulations, Amy & Ernest. We wish you lots of love and happiness. And now, here’s a parting shot from the couple’s sexy afterthoughts photo session with Julie. For more wedding pix, visit Studio Julie’s Blog here.

Seriously, how beautiful is the backdrop we have to work with in Key West?
