Julia and Chad’s Casa Marina Wedding Getaway

     521-1 (1)

This beautiful couple from Louisiana sailed into Key West in style, literally. They arrived to  Key West early Tuesday morning on a cruise ship and were only in port for 7 hours.

They definitely made the most of their time, though! Steve Torrence wed the full of life, southern couple on the Casa Marina Beach. Once the ceremony was over, the couple, along with their guests, headed over to the Casa Marina patio.

There, Peter from Milan Events blew us all away by selecting the perfect navy blue and white linens, which complimented the bright array of flowers he had selected for the centerpieces. Brunch was served, mimosa’s were flowing, and George Pollis was playing away on the steel drums.

Solaris and his wife, Marcella, captured the entire event through their lenses. They even went along for the ride when the Conch Tour Train arrived at the Casa Marina to pick up all the guests and give them a tour around Key West.

After the tour came to an end, back on the ship they went as they sailed onto their next destination. Although they had 2 other destinations left, I can guarantee neither one was as memorable as their wedding day in Key West.null

A Swankey Wedding: Erica & Frank

For some people, planning a Key West wedding isn’t a destination wedding, but a homecoming. This was the case for Erica when she wed Frank at the Casa Marina. She and Megan grew up together on the island and even cheered together at Key West High School. “Go Conchs!”

This summer, Erica became the fourth of her sisters to wed at the elegant Casa Marina, making it a true family tradition. She and her bridesmaids got dolled up with the help of The Visible Difference Salon before the ceremony on the beach beautifully decorated by Milan Event. Florida Keys Party Rentals provided the chairs and extra rental items.

The reception was an elegant affair with an adorable candy table serving up blue candy exclusively. DJ Jimmy Cooper from Soundwave DJs got the crowd on their feet. This was definitely a fun, local bunch who were ready to dance the night away! They even had some choreographed dances to share! Soundwave also produced the wedding video for the couple.

It was a truly fun and festive occasion. Congratulations Erica and Frank! For more pictures from their wedding, please visit the talented Studio Julie and her blog.

A Swankey Wedding: Katrina & Ames

Katrina and Ames’ wedding was the last official Swankey wedding of 2011. Their ceremony and reception was held on December 11 at the West Martello Tower and Key West Garden Club by the beach. Ames is a former captain at Fury Water Adventures, and the couple lived in Key West together before moving to the mainland. They chose the island as the location for their destination wedding. Or should we say homecoming?

The night before the wedding, they celebrated their rehearsal dinner on a sunset sail and then had a shindig at the Swankey Space.

Katrina got glam with Studio Marie-Pierre before the ceremony. As you can see in the picture below, she has an eye for detail when it comes to looking good!

The ceremony was officiated by Steve Tepper and Milan Events took care of the flowers and decor. We also utilized Eventfully Yours for the party rentals. As the sun sank into the ocean and the day turned to night, the party  in the gardens got started. Croissants de France catered the reception and created the beautiful wedding cake.

Megan Ellis was the beauty behind the lens capturing all of the special moments of this lovely wedding. Congratulations Katrina & Ames! We hope to see you back in Key West soon.

Christiana & Trevor’s Swankey Wedding featured in “Destination I Do”

We are so proud to have a Swankey wedding featured in Destination I Do Magazine’s blog, and it’s no surprise that they chose Christiana and Trevor’s March wedding at the Southernmost House for the feature. This sunny couple from Southern California decided to wed in Key West as a convenient locale for their east coast families. They were such a pleasure to work with and their wedding was truly spectacular.

Christiana gave us a wonderful complement that was featured in the article. Here’s an excerpt from the blog written by Courtney Cox below:

Once the destination was chosen, the next step was to find a wedding planner who would be their eyes and ears throughout the process. Christiana admits she never could have pulled off the destination wedding of her dreams without the help of her wedding coordinator [Swankey Events]. “[Megan] had established relationships with Key West vendors and validated the research I’d been doing online. That relative peace of mind was important to me.”

The all-star team of vendors in Key West, indeed, helped make the wedding a success. Studio Marie-Pierre got Christiana and her girls glam for the big day. Milan Events provided the lovely flowers and decor. Great Events catered the affair. Roberto DeBourg & the Flats Band rocked the house. And Studio Julie was behind the lens capturing these gorgeous photos. For more pictures from the wedding, click here.

Christiana and Trevor, congratulations once again. Your wedding was truly an inspiration! Also, thank you to Destination I Do for featuring this very Swankey wedding!

A Swankey Wedding: Amy & Ernest

Well, I have to say this was a very special Swankey wedding. Amy is the sister of our good friend and photographer extraordinaire Julie of Studio Julie. At Swankey, we work with Studio Julie for countless Key West destination weddings, and the results are always phenomenal.

I love the look of anticipation in both of their eyes. So sweet!

It was wonderful to feel like a part of the family while planning Amy and Ernest’s intimate October wedding. Amy opted for Studio Marie-Pierre to get gorgeous. The ceremony took place at the lush Key West Garden Club at West Martello by the beach, which is such a sumptuous, stunning venue. Officiant Steve Torrence led the ceremony, but not without a Spanish translator for Ernest’s side of the family making it a bilingual ceremony .

For the reception, we headed back to Swankey Headquarters for a great party and a delicious cake by Key West Cakes. Milan Events was responsible for the gorgeous flowers. It was an amazing evening, even with a little rain, and we were so happy to play a hand Julie’s sister’s big day.

Congratulations, Amy & Ernest. We wish you lots of love and happiness. And now, here’s a parting shot from the couple’s sexy afterthoughts photo session with Julie. For more wedding pix, visit Studio Julie’s Blog here.

Seriously, how beautiful is the backdrop we have to work with in Key West?

Style Me Pretty Features A Swankey Wedding

Who can forget the stunning Karli and her handsome hubby Jonathan? Well, their Sunset Key Wedding caught the eye of Style Me Pretty, a website dedicated to bridal inspiration and destination weddings. At Swankey HQ, we’ll often scour their site oohing and ahhing at the gorgeous wedding photos and getting inspired ourselves!

It was a true pleasure planning Karli and Jonathan’s wedding at Sunset Key. It’s definitely one of those gorgeous affairs that stands out in our memories! The pictures by Mi Amore Foto captured the day beautifully. Thanks to Milan Events for the flowers and Key West Cake for the cake! For more pictures from this beautiful wedding click here.

And, now, a final parting shot… (How gorgeous is her back!?)

A Swankey Wedding: Marinda & Andrew

Destination weddings are all about intimacy. Getting away to an exotic locale with the ones you care for most trumps a big, fussy traditional wedding. Destination weddings are also a beautiful way to elope and create lasting memories with the person you plan to build a life with. That’s exactly what Marinda and Andrew had in mind when they eloped on Sunset Key last month.

The couple boarding a ferry to Sunset Key.

The sweet couple from Chicago wed on the beach at Sunset Key officiated by Steve Torrence, and then enjoyed a delicious dinner at Latitudes. Milan Events took care of the flowers while Southernmost Glam got Miranda glam for the ceremony! Of course, the trusty Studio Julie was there to capture this beautiful evening for a lifetime in her gorgeous photographs.

The kiss.

Wedding planner extraordinaire Megan rockin' her Dior! 😉 Notice the reflection in her shades? Such a cool effect.

A Swankey Wedding: Moria & Cory

Some brides-to-be thrive in the wild world that is DIY wedding decor. Our bride Moria was definitely one of these brides! Her one-of-a-kind creations put a personal touch on what was already an amazingly intimate and special day.

She and hubby Cory wed on the beach at Fort Zach just before sunset officiated by Aaron Wechter. The reception moved to the Southernmost on the Beach for an intimate dinner and dancing under the stars. While Studio Marie-Pierre got Moria gorgeous and Mama Flowers created lovely floral centerpieces, Moria rocked the rest of the details.

First of all, I absolutely loved her citrus color scheme of green, orange, and yellow. It’s original, yet so appropriate for a tropical Key West wedding. We utilized Florida Keys Party Rentals for all of the chairs and tables.

How great are these handwritten sand dollar name cards? This is the personal touch I was talking about. Underneath, you can see the handmade dinner menu.

More great touches here with table cards decorated with orange coral drawings, starfish name tags to hang off the side of the chairs, a special wedding book (orange ink!), and flip-flop bins for him and her!

Another unique twist was the wedding cake designed by Key West Cakes with a traditional top tier and then mini cupcakes layered beneath. Yum! Soundwave DJs kept the party going into the night along with Bongo D on the steel drums for that island party feel.

Of course, Studio Julie was behind the lens of all these great photos. For more of Moria and Cory’s wedding, visit her blog here.

A Swankey Wedding: Shannon & Jennifer

Last summer, Shannon and Jen graced us with their gorgeous presence in a commitment ceremony on the beautiful beach at Sunset Key. At Swankey HQ, we’re waxing nostalgic going through old pictures and just realized these two are celebrating their first year anniversary of wedded bliss. And there’s more, the two are expecting a bundle of joy very soon! Congratulations ladies! It was an honor getting to know you and to help plan your special day.

Not to be cliched, but… it seems like only yesterday that we were enjoying Shannon and Jen’s reception at the Doubletree Grand Key Resort slicing into the wedding cake by Key West Cakes, surrounded by beautiful fragrant flowers from Milan Events. Here’s some amazing shots of the wedding from the talented Studio Julie:

Here comes the bride! (And Megan, too!)

With this ring I thee wed... on a gorgeous beach!

Happily ever after...

Let them eat cake!

Congratulations again Shannon and Jen! For even more photos from their wedding visit Studio Julie’s Blog.

A Swankey Wedding: Leslie & Patrick

Earlier this month, we shared with you some amazing pictures of Leslie & Patrick’s rehearsal day of fun for the their June 4th Audubon House wedding from their photographer Blake Burton of Atlanta. These Georgia peaches were a pleasure to work with and their photos are absolutely inspirational. The talented Marie-Pierre got Leslie absolutely gorgeous for the ceremony and reception, which was catered by the Westin and and decorated with lovely flowers by Milan Events. Steve Torrence was the officiate and our man DJ Jimmy Jamz kept the party going into the sultry Key West summer night.

We’re thrilled Blake shared some of his best shots from the wedding for our blog. Take a look:

Congratulations Leslie & Patrick! What a beautiful wedding. For more of Blake’s photos from the wedding, visit his blog post here.
